- VPS Grade 2: $60,295 - $77,430 plus superannuation
About the Business Unit:
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
As part of the CJS group, the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) is a 694 bed maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.
About the Role:
In a Justice Service Centre environment, a Justice Officer provides a combination of reception and concierge functions, and administrative and business support services. In the context of a prison, the Justice Officer provides a range of corporate support services (as specified), within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility.
Some of your duties will include:
- Providing support and assistance in a range of administrative functions across various areas at DPFC.
- Monitoring, reporting and liaising with women in our care, administrators, and prison staff on relevant issues.
- Liaising daily with Leisure Centre providers and stakeholders via email and telephone.
This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Ability to learn or good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in or understanding of working within a correctional environment.
