- Utilise your IT and communications expertise to provide support and advice to the Tech Solutions and Data Security branch
- 4 x fixed-term, full-time opportunities to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service to 30th November 2028
- VPS Grade 6: $138,631 - $185,518 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit:
Technology Solutions and Data Security is delivering the Data and Digital Reform Agenda, which focuses on meeting the department's data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes.
Technology Solutions explores and employs technology to enable the department's business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services. It supports enterprise-wide platforms and services including critical applications, networks, telecommunication, call centres, hosting, intranet/internet sites; delivers business and corporate funded project; and oversees the delivering of services provided by technology service providers such as Cenitex.
About the Role:
The BTTER project is building solutions to digitally enable key business functions in prisons, reduce manual processes, increase staff satisfaction and improve the prisoner experience which will have far reaching benefits.
As a Senior Apex Developer, some of your duties will include:
- Developing and leading the specification and design of complex solutions in collaboration with departmental stakeholders including business users, product manager, business analysts, senior developers, architects and testers
- Managing and undertaking design and development activities through the selection of appropriate technology, design standards, methods and tools, consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and industry best practises and standards
- Actively leading and participating in the ‘end-to-end' delivery of solutions from business requirements, solution design and build, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated senior experience in the use of a range of Oracle development tools and the with the Oracle database (PL/SQL) environment, including the use of recognised and emerging technologies
- Experience using source code controls and Continuous Integration (CI) tools such as Jenkins, GIT, SourceTree, etc
- Experience across a range of waterfall, iterative, incremental and agile software development methodologies.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A relevant ICT tertiary qualification
- Appropriate vocation training or certifications in applications and/or specialist product is highly desirable.
