Lead Strategic reform in teacher regulation

Position: Regulatory Strategy Lead

Location: 717 Bourke Street, Docklands, Melbourne

Employment Type: Full-time, ongoing

Classification: VIT Grade 6.1

Salary: $131,053-$153,213 pa plus statutory superannuation

Reports to: Director, Professional Conduct Branch

 

The Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Regulatory Strategy Lead to drive reform and innovation across our professional conduct and registration functions. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of teacher regulation in Victoria by leading policy development, legislative reform, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

You will work across teams and with external stakeholders to enhance regulatory efficiency, embed quality practices, and ensure our systems and processes are aligned with best practice and responsive to emerging challenges. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of regulatory frameworks, policies, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Analyse workflows and identify opportunities for process and system enhancements.
  • Use data and performance insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Provide expert policy advice to the Executive and Council of the VIT.
  • Facilitate workshops and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop complex briefings, reports, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support staff in policy, process, and regulatory best practices.
  • Collaborate across branches to deliver on strategic objectives 

The role may involve exposure to sensitive matters, which can involve allegations of child sexual abuse

 

About You

You are a strategic thinker and experienced policy leader with:

  • A strong understanding of regulatory environments and public sector governance.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development, quality improvement, and regulatory reform.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to lead change and influence at senior levels.
  • A tertiary qualification in law, public policy, or a related field (highly regarded).

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (Leading) -Considers a broad range of topics (beyond immediate area of work), works across government and at senior levels to develop and deliver sustainable solutions.
