Position Details

Please note: Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PPA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Transport and Planning. Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.

The Planning Information Services Branch manages the delivery, support and enhancement of all business technology, information services and systems including spatial systems and services. The team maintains and develops information and spatial systems to enable a high level of service to support the work of the Planning Group and the wider planning industry including local government.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Experience using the ArcGIS suite of technologies is mandatory, experience using other GIS (Geospatial Information System) software may be considered
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as GIS, Geography, or Urban Planning is desirable
  • A strong understanding of the Vicmap Foundational datasets is desirable
  • Experience using FME/FME Server and automating data management is desirable
  • Experience with 3D spatial tools and technologies is desirable
  • An understanding of the Planning / Urban Planning domain would be well regarded
  • Proven ability to query, report and analyse data in enterprise databases and create automated workflows and processes would be well regarded

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
