The position leads one of the three streams in the Adaptation Policy Team – a multi-disciplinary team that provides advice on climate change adaptation priorities and works with partners to build resilience to climate change in Victoria.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the implementation of a capacity building program, including capacity building activities, tools and resources, to ensure critical systems (sectors) are prepared for the introduction of Adaptation Action Plans under Victoria's Climate Change Act 2017.
  • Contribute to tailored and timely advice to the Department's Executive, other State Government departments and agencies, and the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change to embed climate change adaptation in Victorian Government policies and programs.
  • Undertake research and analysis relating to climate change adaptation to inform policy development and project delivery.
  • Evaluation of the implementation of the pilot Adaptation Action Plans prepared by delivery partners under Victoria's Climate Change Adaptation Plan 2017-2020, including providing advice on adaptation best-practice and undertaking monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Manage and provide support, guidance and strategic direction to members of the stream.
  • Initiate, build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate – in writing and verbally – to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute effectively to building and maintaining a constructive culture within the Branch, including through demonstrating DELWP values and behaviours.
  • (Optional) Where the successful candidate is appropriately skilled, plan, lead and deliver work on finance and/or insurance for climate change adaptation program.
