Position Details
The Manager, Enabling Aboriginal Self Determination within the First Peoples Self Determination Division drives end-to-end coordination of DEECA's approach to Aboriginal Self Determination.
The Manager works across DEECA's policy areas to ensure Traditional Owner rights and government's commitments to Aboriginal Self-Determination are central to the development of new policies and strategies and carried through to implementation on Country.
The position requires a sound understanding and experience in the delivery of complex projects and developing and influencing policy and strategy in Government as well as a high level of cultural capability and experience working with Victorian Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities.
This position is classified as an “identified position” aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture and an ability to communicate with Aboriginal communities. Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and society and ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 Months. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
