Position Details

The Water and Catchments Group, in the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is responsible for effectively managing Victoria's water resources to meet future urban, rural and environmental needs.  Working in partnership with stakeholders, including water corporations and catchment authorities it also engages across DELWP, with agencies, Ministers, stakeholders and the community to balance the economic, environmental and social values of water.  This work assists in delivering engaged communities, securing urban and rural water supplies, creating greener and liveable cities and towns, and healthy waterways and aquifers.

An exciting opportunity exists to lead the Office of the Deputy Secretary, providing high level support and advice to the Deputy Secretary and the Water and Catchments Group executive to effectively deliver on DELWP's and the Government's priorities.  The role encompasses public administration, policy and legislation, finance, human resources, strategic governance, communications, media and ministerial liaison. As part of the senior leadership team the Director will play an important role bringing corporate knowledge and high-level advice to the Deputy Secretary and the executive team, building effective partnerships across the Department whilst ensuring a high performing and effective team.

To be considered for this position you will have previous experience in an Executive role across a range of corporate functions within the Public Sector.  Proven capability building strong relationships with stakeholders in a complex environment and demonstrated success in working across Government is a pre-requisite.  You will be naturally collaborative in style, values driven, display good judgement and positivity with exceptional leadership capability and the ability to manage a challenging corporate agenda.  Qualifications in business will be very highly regarded.
