Position Details

We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning (DELWP) has a requirement to fill the role of Senior Workforce Coordination Officer. This role is a member of the Statewide Integration Branch in the Forest and Fire Operations Division. The Division is an important part of Victoria's fire and emergency management arrangements and has a key role in enabling DELWP to efficiently, effectively and safely meet its emergency management responsibilities.

The Senior Workforce Coordination Officer is a member of the Forest and Fire Operations Division leadership team and the Command and Control Support Unit.

This position leads a team to manage the preparedness and response arrangements for the Melbourne Region including the workforce for the State Control Centre.  This includes ensuring adequate resourcing is in place, followed by ensuring staff are appropriately trained, experienced and supported to perform their emergency roles safely.

The successful candidate will be required to contribute to and translate strategy and policy into operational practices and will perform a lead role in establishing state-wide preparedness and response practices, including overseeing the Forest Fire Management Victoria partnerships and agreements. At all times the role requires a constant ‘vigilance' that our systems and processes are in place to enable the effective resource management when fires and other emergencies occur.

You will be self-starting, demonstrate initiative, enjoy learning new things and taking on new challenges. Underpinning all the resourcing, coordination and operational skills that you have, you have an exceptional ability to work with others. You can form and maintain positive working relationships across the Forest Fire and Regions Group, with other DELWP portfolios and with key external partners in emergency management - these include state, national and international partners.

This is a fixed term available from 2 September 2019 for 17 months.

To be considered for this position, your application should include a supporting statement demonstrating that you meet the key selection criteria and any job requirements specified in the position description.

Applications close at midnight, Tuesday 23 July 2019
