We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has a requirement to fill a Senior Civil Engineer role within the Infrastructure and Resources Division, Roads and Fixed Assets Unit. The Senior Civil Engineer ensures that state forest road and bridge construction, improvement, replacement and maintenance programs across the state road network is carried out efficiently and effectively to professional engineering standards and in accordance with existing legislation, policies, plans and Codes of Practice.

The role has overarching responsibilities to coordinate the civil engineering requirements for the Roads and Fixed Assets Unit, for public land in Victoria. This entails development of DELWP's policies and guidelines for management of DELWP's road and crossing network and managing engineering consultants and contractors for design of specialist solutions to complex engineering problems.

The successful candidate will have tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering recognised in Australia; and have demonstrated engineering expertise undertaking assessments and design of timber and concrete bridges and culverts, including functional experience with associated road, drainage and geotechnical engineering requirements.

Your past experience has had you engaged in contract management; ensuring Service Level Agreements are met within timelines and budgets; and objectives reached. With limited supervision, you are very comfortable and adept at working with contractors to ensure accountabilities are met.

As you juggle a variety of different projects, you will be interacting with and supporting a broad range of our internal and external stakeholders. Your highly-developed communication, stakeholder engagement, planning and organising skills will be utilised as you navigate complex issues, conversations, expectations and the general demands and priorities of the role.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 17 months.

To be considered for this position, your application should include a supporting statement demonstrating that you meet the key selection criteria and any job requirements specified in the position description.

Applications close at midnight, Thursday 1 August 2019.
