Position Details


The Forest Fire and Regions Group within the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) works in partnership with all fire and emergency management agencies to support the operational implementation of Safer Together: a new approach to reducing the risk of bushfire in Victoria.

Forest and Fire Operations Division (FFOD) delivers state forest management operations and fire management operations on public land and supports Regional Directorates to deliver priority programs and projects. The division also supports the Chief Fire Officer in leading Forest Fire Management Victoria's command and control arrangements for fire and emergency response and planned burning operations.

Director, Forest and Fire Operations / Deputy Chief Fire Officer

The Director, Forest and Fire Operations /Deputy Chief Fire Officer is responsible for the design and delivery of forest, fire and emergency management operations across the Gippsland region. The Director will lead the delivery of fire prevention, preparedness and response operations.

The team also oversees the delivery of forest and land management programs and operational strategies that enhance recreation and nature-based tourism in state forests. You will adopt a community first approach, underpinned by strong partnerships and integration with other land, forest and emergency services agencies to enhance the positive impact on people, property, economy and the environment across the region.
