The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has a requirement to fill a vacancy for a Senior Forests and Fire Operations Officer within the Hume Region, (north east Victoria). This is a varied role that provides management and leadership of Works Coordinators and Field Staff. The role assists in the delivery of DELWP's planned burning program and forest management program and is an integral contributor to the fire readiness response arrangements for the Goulburn District which is within the Hume Region. Underpinning all of the technical aspects of the role, the successful candidate is required to develop and maintain a safety culture and mindset at all times.

You have strong leadership and management qualities and skills; you will use these skills to inspire, mentor and upskill staff. You can be relied on, to not only share your subject matter expertise, but to also genuinely guide staff in assisting with their skills development. You are a highly motivated and responsive person with excellent end to end complex project management skills - from project planning through to project delivery and are be able to manage a range of projects concurrently. You are extremely comfortable working in a project environment with competing deadlines. You have delivered on objectives – yours that relate to your role, and the overall team's objectives. You show an agile approach to project delivery – working through bottlenecks methodically and apply systems thinking that enables you to think laterally when solving problems. All that you do will be underpinned by your exceptional ability to be highly organised, determine priorities and work through these methodically.

As you juggle a variety of objectives, you will be interacting with and supporting a broad range of our internal and external stakeholders, therefore not only do you bring strong communication skills (written and verbal) and are able to communicate effectively at all levels, you also bring strong work collaboration skills.
