Position Details

An opportunity to make a real difference in operational planning of fire management works on public land in the Port Phillip Region. Join a passionate supportive team who will help develop your career.

The Senior Fire Planning Officer will support the development of the Joint Fuel Management Program, including planned burning, mechanical fuel treatment and strategic fuel break maintenance activities.

The Senior Fire Planning Officer will undertake planning to identify and align fuel management works with strategic intent and direction, including risk reduction outcomes.

The role will also engage with Districts, Traditional Owners and Stakeholders on the development and design of the Joint Fuel Management Program, adapting to reflect local needs and objectives within operational plans, including the inclusion of cultural burning as a key priority for the region

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in science, public policy, natural resource or environmental management, business management or equivalent (desirable).
  • Proven experience leading and applying planning processes for programs and/or projects (on public land, desirable), including complex stakeholder engagement and adherence to legislation.

This is a fixed term position available for 12 months. The work location for this position is flexible within Port Phillip Region with hybrid work arrangements available.
