Position Details

The Natural Environment Program Officer (VRET) provides high quality environmental advice to support decision making for renewable energy project proposals. The role combines technical biodiversity related knowledge with well-developed problem-solving, collaboration and outcome-focused skills to minimise risk to Victoria's natural environment for communities, while supporting these priority projects.

The position plays a critical role in timely, effective and community-supported delivery of environmentally sustainable renewable energy projects in regional Victoria. The position supports the attainment of the Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET).

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in science or natural resource management, preferably with an emphasis on avifauna and / or bats is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in threatened species management, including environmental assessments is mandatory.

This is a fixed term part time (0.6 FTE) position available until 31 December 2024. The work location for this position is flexible within the Barwon South West Region with hybrid work arrangements available.
