Position Details

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) brings together Victoria's planning, local government, environment, energy, suburban development, forests, emergency management, climate change and water functions into a single department to strengthen connections between the environment, community, industry and economy. It is tasked with ensuring that Victoria has the right conditions to enable economic growth, while delivering liveable, inclusive and sustainable communities.

The Gippsland region's economy is predominantly based around natural resources and commodities, with key industry sectors including agriculture, forestry, dairy and pastoral industries, fishing, and coal mining, oil and gas extraction and processing. In the region, DELWP delivers a range of programs to protect environmental assets, manage public land, and respond to fire and other emergencies through an all-hazards approach. DELWP ensures appropriate planning, supports regional water management agencies and local governments, and delivers regional services to the community through strong partnerships with regional stakeholders.

Reporting to the Deputy Secretary, Forest, Fire and Regions Group, you will lead the Gippsland Regional Directorate, comprising approximately 140 staff, in providing a community-centred approach to place-based service delivery to meet departmental priorities. You will bring the government and community together by influencing and empowering local decision making whilst delivering a range of diverse programs and initiatives that benefits Gippsland and its community. In doing so, you will effectively manage a range of stakeholder relationships both externally and across the DELWP portfolio.

You bring a proven track record in senior leadership positions and in delivering services to communities, having built high performing teams that pride themselves on customer service excellence. Your exceptional stakeholder management skills and political acumen enables you to form strong relationships at all levels. You are known for your ability to problem solve and drive mutually beneficial solutions. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to be part of a highly respected executive team and contribute to an organisation that greatly benefits the community and environment.
