Position Details

The Program Support Officer is based in the Aboriginal Partnerships Team, while also providing support to the broader Community and Partnerships Branch.

The position will focus on supporting strong partnerships with Traditional Custodians in the Port Phillip region and supporting the Aboriginal Partnerships Team to deliver a range of programs under Pupangarli Marnmarnepu ‘Owning Our Future' – Aboriginal Self-Determination Reform Strategy 2020-2025.

Key responsibilities include: supporting high-quality delivery of project and engagement requests between the Department and Traditional Custodians groups that the Port Phillip Region overlaps; a strong administrative support function with the organisation required to support internal relationships and external partnerships with Traditional Custodian groups; and provide support as requested to the broader Community and Partnerships teams. The position will engage with the Region's Cultural Heritage Team and Cultural Burn Officer to support a consistent approach to engaging with Traditional Custodian groups in the Region.

The Community and Partnerships Program Officer will have the opportunity to join various networks while working at the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). These include the Aboriginal Staff Network, the Port Phillip Region First Custodians Network, and others, along with additional opportunities for training and career advancement provided by the Department.

This is designated position under s.12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Qualifications and / or experience related to Aboriginal Engagement and community engagement is desirable.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Knoxfield but also flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
