Position Details

Natural Environment Program Officers are required to deliver or support a broad range of biodiversity projects and programs. The key purpose of this role is to provide advice on statutory planning referrals consistent with Victorian and Commonwealth biodiversity and native vegetation policy and legislation but will also be required to assist in other environmental programs delivered by the Natural Environment Programs branch within the Port Phillip region.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification related to natural resource management
  • Expertise in natural resource management, preferably focused on biodiversity and native vegetation management
  • Understanding of legislation and planning policies that apply to native vegetation and biodiversity regulation in Victoria e.g. P&E Act, EPBC Act, FFG Act, planning provisions, native vegetation regulations
  • Experience working with DELWP planning tools e.g. GIS, VBA, NatureKit, VicMap  

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2023.
