Position Details

This opportunity within the Places and Precincts Branch is focused on supporting the delivery of election commitments and priority implementation actions of the government's metropolitan planning strategy Plan Melbourne and Regional Growth Plans. The Branch is responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for key places in Victoria, partnering to align efforts across all sectors of government and the community and formulating policy and plans to implement the vision.

As a Project Support Officer, you will:

  • Undertake research and analysis that contributes to briefings and reports
  • Provide support to Ministerial Advisory Committees, project owners and managers through preparation of papers, agendas, minutes and following up on actions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships, ongoing communication with key stakeholders both internal and external to the Department including event and workshop coordination, drafting communications, and responding to issues raised by stakeholders.
  • Provide efficient and timely project and administrative support including project planning, monitoring and reporting, correspondence, coordinating and scheduling tasks, information management, financial management, procurement and contract management.
  • Establish and maintain effective and accurate system database processes, where required, and review and recommend improvements to business procedures.
  • Work flexibly and collaboratively across the business to deliver Branch, Division and Group priorities and initiatives as required.
  • Practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Planning, Environment, Social Sciences, Economics, Architecture or Landscape Design would be well regarded.
  • Proven capability as a self-starter and an ability to effectively undertake work independently or as part of a team.

This is a Fixed Term Position until 31 December 2022.
