As a Fire Lookout Observer, your main responsibility is the detection and monitoring of fires to determine location, size, and fire behaviour. You will also participate in activities associated with fire readiness, suppression, planned burning and other emergency response and recovery operations in accordance with one's role, training and accreditation.

If you have experience in the operation of two-way radios and communication equipment, along with safe and effective vehicle driving skills with training and experience in 4WD, defensive driving and minor vehicle maintenance, you are strongly encouraged to apply.

As the role involves working at heights in isolated and remote locations, a reasonable fitness level is required. The successful application will be required to provide their own transport to the Tower, reliable 4WD suitable for forest tracks.

This is a casual position available for the 2019/20 fire season. This position will work in various remote locations within the Upper Murray District including Mt Mittamatite, Mt Benambra and Mt Granya towers. The annual salary range for this position is $48,508 to $54,924 pa + super, subject to skills & experience.
