Position Details

The Senior Policy Officer, Energy Markets and Networks will be responsible for developing policy and regulatory reform that supports the Victorian Government's high-level objective to deliver safe, affordable, secure, reliable and sustainable energy to Victorian consumers. The Senior Policy Officer will work closely with other policy officers across the Branch to provide advice and progress energy market reform both at a state level and through the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Energy Council including the implementation of regulatory reform for stand alone power systems and Victoria's energy licence exemptions framework.

The successful candidate will be required to develop and maintain strong networks across the Branch and broader Energy Group, as well as with other stakeholders such as central agencies. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, resilient and outcomes-focused, with a demonstrated ability to provide clear, authoritative and timely policy advice and see projects to their completion.

Specialist/Technical Expertise 

  • Tertiary qualification(s) including post-graduate qualification(s) in science, engineering, law, economics, public policy, natural resource or environmental management, business management or similar
  • Strong experience with Government policy and regulatory processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current national and state energy policy and frameworks, particularly the Victorian energy licensing and exemptions framework and the regulatory framework for stand alone power systems.
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills, and ability to develop innovative solutions to complex policy issues.

This is a fixed term position until 1 July 2022.
