Position Details

The Project Officer will enjoy exposure to cutting-edge policy, innovation and startup ecosystems in the energy space. As Project Officer you will have the ability to shape early-stage ideas into real-world outcomes. The Project Officer will join the Innovation and Sector Development team in the Renewable Energy Activation and Development Branch. If you're passionate about energy innovation, startups, and the renewable energy transition, this is your chance to make an impact.

In this role you will:

  • Support the delivery of initiatives that grow Victoria's energy startup ecosystem, such as the CivVic Labs EnergyTech Challenge.
  • Contribute to digital and data-led innovation projects, helping identify new economic and technological opportunities in the energy sector.
  • Drive cross-sector partnerships and help deliver key investment and innovation initiatives like the Renewable Energy Technology Investment Prospectus.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of projects that support Victoria's energy technology startup ecosystem including the CivVic Labs EnergyTech Challenge run with LaunchVic
  • Conduct aspects of more complex projects under direction relating to the economic opportunities of data and digitalisation in the energy sector
  • Contribute to other energy innovation projects including grant management, industry development, and research partnerships and investment attraction including the Renewable Energy Technology Investment Prospectus.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in energy, environment or a research background is desirable.
  • An understanding of government processes and current energy policy landscape is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 04 June 2027. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
