Position Details

We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has a vacancy for a new position within the Land Information and Spatial Services (LISS) branch of the Strategic Land Assessment and Information Division – Land Use Victoria. The LISS branch provides trusted, and accessible foundational spatial data services through the trusted Vicmap brand, coordinates state and local investment in aerial photography and elevation data acquisition, facilitates business innovation through digital enhancement and leads industry engagement activities that connects new and existing government, community and business customers with our spatial services.

The Vicmap Project Manager will perform a lead role in coordinating the project management and delivery of multiple ongoing projects, policies, programs, processes and system.  This position is required to ensure that projects are running to schedule and delivered to specification; and will contribute to the overall objective of ensuring DELWP's core spatial data services continue to be trusted and accessible to users in a fast changing technological and institutional landscape.

For this reason, the successful candidate will have solid project management skills and understanding of the project lifecycle, and a reputation for being able to bring projects to completion and implementation. You are known by your colleagues and managers for being extremely organised, as you are able to successfully keep your finger on the pulse of multiple projects and their respective stages and do so with ease. This comes natural to you as you know and use the correct project management tools to help you achieve this.

The role will support effective cross-DELWP, VPS and industry engagement activities; you will be interacting with a broad range of our internal and external stakeholders. It goes without saying your stakeholder management skills will be of a high standard as are your communication skills. You will be required to present high quality and professional briefs, proposals, project plans, reports, correspondence and ad-hoc reports. Overall, your communication, stakeholder engagement, planning and organising skills will be utilised as you navigate complex issues, conversations, expectations and the general demands and priorities of the role.

In your project management career to date, colleagues have relied on you to successfully deliver on projects that helped your team or organisation meet its objectives. Your proactive style of work comes natural to you and you have volumes of energy and professional enthusiasm; whilst you appreciate and thrive working in a supportive team environment.

Given the teams and technologies you will be supporting, some technical understanding of geospatial technology would be an advantage, either through a relevant tertiary qualification or industry experience.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 24 months.

To be considered for this position, your application should include a supporting statement demonstrating that you meet the key selection criteria and any job requirements specified in the position description.

Applications close at midnight, Thursday 20 June 2019.
