Position Details

This position provides an excellent opportunity to work on the development of policy to help strengthen our waste management and resource recovery system, make Victoria's economy more circular, and help the recycling sector thrive.


  • Work in a team to develop and deliver policies and programs to improve economic, social and sustainability outcomes from Victoria's waste and resource recovery sector and broader economy.
  • Contribute to and lead rigorous research and analysis to support robust, evidence-based policy.
  • Prepare and present accurate, concise and timely reports, briefings and correspondence for a range of audiences including Ministers and Department Executives.
  • Build relationships, and coordinate interactions and projects with portfolio partners, including with the EPA, Sustainability Victoria, waste and resource recovery groups, other departments and agencies, the waste industry and environment groups.
  • Contribute to the team's strategic objectives by undertaking environmental scanning and research and support the Manager to ensure the effective delivery of strategic and business priorities.
  • Help to negotiate and resolve policy and program implementation issues with stakeholders and project partners and ensure Victorian government programs are aligned with government policy.
  • Contribute to a constructive culture within the branch, led by example, and demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision.
