Position Details

We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly, and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The Department of Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has current vacancies for Senior Procurement Officers within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of the Forest, Fire and Regions Group.  Based in one of DELWP's regional offices in either western or eastern Victoria, these roles require a procurement specialist to engage in the end to end procurement process to help deliver the Reducing Bushfire Risk Program.

For this reason, our successful candidates will have a successful career to date that clearly demonstrates their knowledge, experience and expertise in full stage state government procurement process, and subsequent contract management.

You will be working with internal stakeholders to ensure the consistent, integrated and efficient delivery of procurement services including reporting and data management. You comfortably navigate the procurement and contract management process, working through ‘pain points' to see these to their completion.

Successful candidates will be required to mentor and upskill other District and Regional staff in procurement and contract management processes. For this reason, we are looking for candidates who are subject matter experts in the end to end state government procurement process and have a track record of developing the procurement skills of team members and guiding them in this area.

All that you do will be underpinned by your exceptional ability to be highly organised; you are a self-starter and able to work autonomously. You have the energy and mental agility to solve problems and the emotional intelligence to maintain relationships with vendors, whilst holding them accountable. For this reason, we require candidates with excellent influencing skills who can optimise the use of their time and that of the people they work with.

This role will suit a person who can guide and develop various internal and external stakeholders on the procurement and contracting process, seek optimal procurement outcomes in line with DELWP procurement policy, is happy to respond to the varying tasks that comes with the nature of the program and is adaptable to the changing priorities of the team through the program delivery.

There is a requirement to travel, therefore availability to do so is paramount. We need hard working, flexible colleagues who can roll with the ebb and flow of the workload as they apply their specialist knowledge in supporting the state of Victoria and Victorians.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 24 months.

To be considered for this position, your application should include a supporting statement demonstrating that you meet the key selection criteria and any job requirements specified in the position description.

Applications close at midnight, Thursday 27 June.
