The Policy officer will have the opportunity to work on this important and high-profile project as well as work with the broader team to enhance the safety and security of the State's gas and electricity networks. The Policy Officer will be responsible for providing policy advice and support to the Manager, Energy Safety Policy, on the development of this strategic reform as well as other energy safety policy matters.


  • Contribute to strategic policy development and delivery of the Government's Response to the Coroner's Court inquest into the death of Sonia Sofianopoulous.
  • Provide authoritative information and advice on energy safety policy matters and the delivery of legislative reform for energy safety in Victoria.
  • Participate in a range of internal, interdepartmental and external agency meetings and committees.
  • Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including departmental staff, other government departments, statutory authorities and external organizations.
  • Actively participate in and encourage others to support a positive organizational culture, and business and performance excellence.

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm and curiosity for energy public policy, as well as an outcomes and delivery focused approach. The role requires the day-to-day application of analytic and policy skills to identify opportunities, navigate policy issues, and come up with innovative solutions.

This is a fixed-term position available for a period of 12 months.
