Position Details

Please note: Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PPA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Transport and Planning. Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.

The Senior Economic Policy Officer will work as part of a high performing team to lead and support a number of complex projects to improve the operation and regulation of the building system. Key workstreams include:

• Researching issues with insolvency across the sector, including payments to subcontractors through Security of Payment Act arrangements; and

• Contributing to the Safe Building Ventilation Program, which supports the Government's COVID-19 response by supporting safe ventilation settings for sensitive public settings.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in economics or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of policy initiatives and projects in a State or Commonwealth public service setting is highly desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024. The work location for this position is 150 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
