The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has a requirement to fill a vacancy for a Senior Regulatory Strategy Officer role within the Office of the Conservation Regulator (OCR).  The OCR and is accountable for the delivery of DELWP's direct regulatory responsibilities in timber harvesting, biodiversity, fire prevention and public land use regulation. The OCR's mission is to be an effective, trusted, best practice regulator – increasing transparency, improving relationships and regulatory capability to deliver on regulatory outcomes.

The Senior Regulatory Strategy Officer will lead a small team responsible for developing an understanding of key environmental and compliance risks, determining priority regulatory issues and designing and monitoring regulatory ‘treatments' including the use of regulatory permissions to address these issues.

The Senior Regulatory Strategy Officer will support Office of the Conservation Regulator functions in business case development and development of key reform projects in areas such as permissioning reform.

The Senior Regulatory Strategy Officer is a key member of the Regulatory Strategy unit, which is focussed on ensuring that OCR uses the most appropriate regulatory approach to address each priority risk. This role works across the Office of the Conservation Regulator, and with internal and external stakeholders to identify priorities for regulatory clarity ensuring consistent application of the law.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of regulatory strategy functions for the Office of the Conservation Regulator including developing the systems, processes and culture to support high-quality delivery.

You are able to apply exceptional high-level external stakeholder engagement skills, to support the collaborative, intelligence-led and integrated delivery of a regulatory strategy for the department and to the community. Particularly you are adept at identifying issues in common for one or more stakeholders and you use these to build mutually beneficial partnerships.
