Position Details

This position has been approved for Australian Aboriginals and/or Torres Strait Islander People. It is a designated position under the ‘special measures' section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply for this position. Applicants will be required to provide a completed Aboriginality form.

The Adviser supports recruitment and key career development initiatives for Aboriginal employees and helps ensure inclusion and cultural safety is embedded into our workforce processes.  The Adviser will be exposed to a wide range of DELWP People and Culture functions and processes and will be able to make connections between work in Aboriginal Employment and Cultural Safety and broader People and Culture work. 

Specialist/Technical Expertise

• Sound understanding and professional experience relating to Aboriginal communities. 

• Knowledge of current challenges, issues, opportunities and community aspirations amongst Aboriginal Victorians.

• Experience in engaging and building networks with Aboriginal people.

• An appropriate qualification in a field such as human resources, learning and development, education, organisational development or a related discipline, will be desirable.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 24 moths.

DELWP will conduct relevant and required checks about applicants and the information provided with an application.  Such checks will include but are not limited to: 

  • A Statutory Declaration and Consent form consenting to DELWP contacting current and previous employer(s) to substantiate employment history, past conduct and performance is required.
  • A satisfactory National Police Check will be required (for all non-DELWP employees).
