Position Details

The position provides planning assessments for development approvals with a specific focus on the statutory responsibility of managing all aspects of planning permit applications. This includes liaising with stakeholders, negotiations with applicants, preparing assessment reports and briefs to the Minister for Planning and preparing correspondence and inputs to the department's data and information systems. More specifically, the Planner is primarily responsible for planning permit matters and important government priority projects. The Planner provides advice on issues, options and solutions within a functional area of responsibility and will foster effective partnerships and networks with peers and stakeholders.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and significant experience in urban planning or related field is required.
  • Working knowledge of the Victoria Planning Provisions and the Planning and Environment Act 1987 is required, with statutory planning experience in state or local government preferred.
  • Practical experience with project management and recording systems is desirable, as is previous experience working in a complex office environment.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024.
