The Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Applied Behaviour Change holds a key science leadership position in a dynamic and challenging area of biodiversity research. The successful candidate will have experience and capability in high quality behaviour change research, particularly in its application to conservation of biodiversity. They will have well developed teamwork skills and will enjoy working in a collaborative environment.

The position requires strong academic knowledge with a sound understanding of best practice research processes and techniques. It also requires excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead by example. The holder of this position is a key member of the ARI Communications and Collaboration Team and will also be a member of RMIT University's ICON Science research group ( and Behaviour works Australia, Monash University (, who are co-funding the position.

Specialist/Technical Expertise:

A PhD and some postdoctoral experience in applied behaviour change or equivalent (e.g. psychology, sociology and economics etc) is mandatory.

• Demonstrated experience in research management, facilitation and contribution to multi-disciplinary research teams.

• Experience in research partnerships between government and academia.

• Experience in co-generation and/or research translation / implementation science.

• Demonstrated peer reviewed publications and academic output.

• Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with a broad range of stakeholder to develop and deliver complex applied research.

This is a fixed term position available for 3 years.
