Exciting opportunity to provide leadership and advice as part of the Smart Planning Program in the Planning group which is delivering major reform to the Victorian planning system.

This role is an opportunity to apply your high-level technical land use planning expertise to support the delivery of the Smart Planning Program, Planning Policy Framework (PPF) translation project. The Senior Planner will be joining a high performing dynamic team, who will be supported to improve and reform the Government's planning policies, strategies and systems.

The key skills the applicant will bring to the role include policy drafting and the ability to think critically, and recognise that facilitating a good working relationship with our internal and external stakeholders is central to the delivery of the PPF translation project.

The Senior Planner will be able to support the team's effectiveness by:

  • applying policy writing skills to the translation of policy into the PPF
  • facilitating a partnership approach with the PPF translation project
  • applying analytical and critical thinking skills to the PPF translation project
  • applying principles of good project management

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Planning and a thorough working knowledge of the planning system is required.
  • Knowledge of significant government policies and strategies on land use planning and legislation is required.
  • Statutory and/or strategic planning experience in local government or planning industry is desirable

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2021.
