Position Details

Working within the Forest, Fire and Regions Group, the Purchasing Officer is responsible for the provision of advice and assistance across all aspects of operational purchasing as needed to meet business requirements and obtain value for money, while maintaining compliance with departmental and Victorian government policies and guidelines. This includes assisting staff to define their requirement; gathering and assessing quotations from suppliers; creation and maintenance of low value contracts; and creation and maintenance of requisitions and purchase orders within the department's cloud-based financial and procurement applications.

As a main point of contact for the business you will liaise with both internal customers and external suppliers daily, responding to enquiries, providing process and systems advice and assisting with issue resolution.

The role requires a detail focused person with experience in purchasing, pricing and data analysis and contract management. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential, as is an ability to prioritise tasks and organise daily workload.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement and purchasing practices and procedures, including capacity to understand and apply the Victorian Government Purchasing Board guidelines.
  • Proficient in the use of technology and demonstrated ability to navigate multiple cloud based financial applications.

These are fixed term positions available until 30 June 2022.
