Position Details

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Policy and Strategy Unit, in the Land Management Policy Division, to implement to Marine and Coastal Strategy 2022 (The Strategy)

The Senior Policy Officer will lead and support the delivery of key activities in the Marine and Coastal Strategy 2022. The role will contribute to the advice on marine and coastal planning and management, including marine spatial planning (MSP), and work to commence Victoria's first MSP process.

The role requires a professional who is efficient and driven to achieve results and has strong teamwork skills. The role also requires strong project planning and management, research, communication and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to build and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of marine and coastal management and planning and/or marine spatial planning.
  • A tertiary qualification in science, environment, natural resource management, environmental law or similar. Qualifications in marine planning, marine science or ocean governance will be highly regarded.
  • Understanding and experience working with marine stakeholders, data, and/or marine environmental management.

This is a fixed term position available until 12 May 2023
