 An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Planner to join the Statutory Planning team at DELWP

The Senior Planner provides high quality advice and service to the Minister for Planning in relation to planning, development and land use matters. The Senior Planner is an integral part of the Planning Group which is responsible for providing statutory services to deliver the Minister for Planning's responsibilities in relation to the assessment of permit applications, planning scheme amendments, and other requirements of planning legislation and instruments.

The role is primarily responsible for complex and large-scale planning permit matters and important government priority projects, including all aspects of planning permit applications for extractive industry proposals and for quarries on the Extractive Industry Project Hot List. This includes liaising with stakeholders, negotiating with applicants, preparing assessment reports and briefs to the Minister for Planning and preparing correspondence and inputs to the department's data and information systems.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and significant experience in urban planning or related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in all statutory planning permit and development processes (including Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal Planning and Environment List matters) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and managing complex and/or strategically significant development proposals within a Victorian state or local government context is an advantage.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2021. Applicants must possess corresponding work rights to be eligible for appointment.
