Position Details

The Regulatory Strategy and Design Branch is seeking a Program Officer who will contribute to service delivery and stakeholder management for the Melbourne Strategic Assessment (MSA) program. The MSA program is the Victorian Government's approach to manage the impact of urban development in Melbourne's expanded growth areas on significant vegetation communities, plants and animals.

The role is part of the Habitat Compensation team that is responsible for assessing urban development applications and associated revenue collection. The Program Officer – Habitat Compensation will primarily liaise with the land development industry and their representatives in the assessment of urban development proposals to ensure impacts to biodiversity are mitigated and meet Commonwealth and Victorian regulations.

To achieve this, the role will manage applications using various systems and processes to assess and collect levy liabilities through payment that are used to meet the MSA program's conservation commitments.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Mandatory: A relevant tertiary qualification in natural resource management, town planning, finance, business management or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in service delivery and stakeholder management.

This is a fixed term position available for 6 months.
