Position Details

The Senior GIS Officer sits within the Strategic Fuel Break (SFB) Taskforce and is responsible for developing and leading the implementation of a Statewide data management strategy for the SFB Program. In this role, you will undertake high level GIS analysis, reporting and visualisation to support planning and reporting requirements associated with the construction and maintenance of SFBs.

The SFB program is a significant investment ($35.8 million) in the development of a network of fuel breaks that will support community and asset protection, providing a strategic advantage for future fire control and planned burning operations in the context of a rapidly changing climate.

The role is suited to a self-motivated individual who can think critically and innovatively, and lead the development of data standards, tools and information to assist decision making across the program. The role will oversee the development of integrated business processes within DELWP in consultation and collaboration with key internal stakeholders (at state and regional levels), and ensure the adoption of effective data management practices.

The successful candidate will have strong technical GIS knowledge and experience that is paired with high level communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders (including decision-makers, technical and policy experts, and regional practitioners).
