Position Details

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the provision of expertise, advice and assistance relating to the management of departmental strategic sourcing activity, including the development and ownership of sourcing strategies, supplier relationship strategies and associated policies and processes. Responsible for all phases of the strategic sourcing process, you will identify saving opportunities to improve value, create competitive environments, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to ensure seamless availability of products and services needed to support departmental objectives.

The role suits a proactive, detail focussed, solutions thinking person who will work within the Procurement branch of Corporate Services undertaking market research and data analysis to continuously improve processes and identify opportunities for innovation while ensuring compliance with DELWP and Whole of Victorian Government procurement policies and procedures. You will be a strong leader with highly developed commercial, analytical, presentation and negotiation skills as you will be leading negotiations to finalise high value, high risk contracts with suppliers to deliver best possible outcomes for the department.

A demonstrated background in strategic sourcing and end to end procurement processes is required, with a minimum of three years experience preferred. The role requires strong capabilities to identify and implement process improvement opportunities that will lead to improved strategic sourcing, procurement and contract management within DELWP while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels with a focus on service excellence and delivery.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant discipline is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement practices and procedures, including demonstrated capacity to understand and apply the Victorian Government Purchasing Board guidelines.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in an end-to-end sourcing function. 

These positions are fixed term for 12 months.
