Position Details

DEECA is seeking to establish a new dedicated in-house energy market modelling unit housed within the Energy Group. As part of this team, the Senior Energy Market Analyst will undertakes quantitative analysis on energy markets and undertakes energy market modelling using optimisation tools, to support the development of policy decisions ensuing the reliability, security, safety, sustainability, and affordability of Victoria's energy systems as the sector transforms to meet the long-term target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help embed a data and modelling-driven approach across the Victorian Government's efforts to guide the energy transition and meet the state's long-term net zero greenhouse gas emissions target.

You will be part of a new dedicated in-house energy market intelligence unit housed within DEECA 's Energy Group and help shape the team from the ground up. This role includes access to flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Bachelor, honours, or advanced degree such as data science, statistics, mathematics or other highly quantitative degree.
  • At least 2 years' in-depth experience of energy market dynamics
  • Ability to code in a programming language preferably Python, R or VBA
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik and Power BI).

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 3 years. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
