Position Details
Please note: Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PPA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Transport and Planning. Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.
The purpose of this role is to enable Surveyor-General Victoria to support major government land reform projects and related business dealings by providing plan and survey services.
The Senior Surveyor is the principal point of liaison between the Project Partner and Surveyor-General Victoria.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Mandatory
- To be a practicing licensed surveyor in Victoria. A minimum of eight years' experience working as a licensed surveyor in Victoria is highly desirable.
Desirable
- Possess high level knowledge of land surveying practices, Victorian cadastral surveying legislation, land tenure legislation and policies.
- Demonstrated experience in completely and accurately carrying out cadastral surveys of a complex nature with proven experience in preparing survey documentation to a high standard. Ability to peer review the cadastral surveys and associated documentation of other licensed surveyors to that same high standard.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing complex reports and briefs of a high standard using clear concise and grammatically correct language to enable effective communication, liaison and negotiation with a wide range of clients and senior executive officers of the department.
- Experience in software applications for downloading and processing digital field survey information; computer aided drafting and survey calculations; word processing and email.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 3 years. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
