Position Details

Do you want to be part of the solution to keeping Victoria safe from Bushfires and other emergency events? Is climate response important to you?

Data Analytics and Information Systems (DAIS) is a team of about 80 technical specialists, who discover, design, develop and deliver a complex and integrated suite of products and platforms enabling DEECA to plan, monitor and respond to Bushfires and other Emergencies.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in UI, visual, and UX design, including proficiency in design systems. Additionally, a deep understanding of accessibility principles and the ability to integrate accessibility into the user experience are essential for this role.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing UI design projects and visual design skills.
  • Expertise in maintaining design systems for scalable and consistent UI designs.
  • Experience in working to create consistent user experience across large platforms.
  • Proficiency in design tools like Figma for user interface design and prototyping
  • Experience developing user experience and interface artifacts including High and low fidelity mock-ups.
  • Experience in designing interfaces for web applications.
  • Experience in delivering W3C WCAG 2 AA accessibility standards and implementing accessibility features into design solutions.
  • Experience in undertaking user research, designing user experience and designing user interfaces.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field are preferred.
  • Experience in designing interfaces for mobile applications.
  • Experience working with JIRA and Confluence to plan and record work.
  • Prior experience of working with design methodologies such as Double Diamond.
  • Experience in leading or mentoring staff.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2025. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria (office based at 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne) with hybrid work arrangements available.
