The Opportunity
This position works within a regional engagement team to build relationships and facilitate engagement with a broad range of stakeholders in the development of renewable energy transmission projects in South West Victoria.
This local approach aims to build effective social licence through the design and implementation of tailored communication and engagement strategies for a range of stakeholders including local communities and business groups, landholders, Traditional Owner groups and First Nations Peoples.
The Communications and Engagement Team develops and implements strategies to deliver on VicGrid's business objectives through impactful and tailored engagement approaches. Our team is central to the Victorian Government's push to involve local communities, landholders and First Peoples earlier and more meaningfully when planning energy infrastructure.
What you will deliver
- You will coordinate the implementation and delivery of best practice stakeholder and community engagement, consistent with Victorian Transmission Investment Framework (VTIF) objectives, for transmission projects being planned in South West Victoria.
- You will identify local community issues, constraints and needs to ensure timely, relevant, and tailored consultation occurs based on local values, concerns and preferences.
- You will support the Regional Engagement Manager in building meaningful relationships with Traditional Owner groups in the Barwon South West region to establish a partnership approach to engagement with Traditional Owners and First Nations Peoples.
- You will manage the development of local content in communications collateral to inform, define and promote the planning and development of transmission projects and VicGrid's role in, and approach to, their development.
Given the nature of this role, work outside of standard business hours, including weekends, and travel within the region may be required.
What you will bring
- Ideally, you will have operated in a similar engagement role in the Barwon South West region. Key to your success will be your knowledge and experience with communities and local economies in the area.
- Experience and expertise in designing and delivering community engagement or consultation processes with a track record of innovation and success.
- Experience in developing promotional and communication materials including digital media.
- Knowledge of working with Traditional Owners in a self-determining manner.
- Tertiary qualifications in stakeholder engagement, media, public relations would be highly regarded.
