Position Details
Are you passionate about helping climate action and helping under-represented groups secure employment? Solar Victoria is seeking a dynamic project lead to identify and engage businesses that require workforce support and secure jobs for people who need extra support to find work.
The successful candidate will be experienced and interested in engaging with businesses with employment opportunities in the solar and renewable energy sector to work with as project partners, supporting individuals who may have existing barriers to employment while working with the employer and appointed recruitment agency to facilitate upskilling of candidates and enable the securing of a position in the renewable energy sector.
This is an exceptional opportunity to participate in the Victorian government's ambitious agenda for building capability in the renewable energy supply chain as part of Victoria's transition to a renewable energy future.
About the Project:
Solar Victoria is the lead partner in this project that will assist to build Victoria's renewable energy businesses and support their growth by increasing capacity to meet their workforce needs. This project is supported by the $250 million Jobs Victoria Fund and has been developed as one of several Priority Workforce Projects focused on renewable energy sector. Under the model jobseekers from a range of priority cohorts will be provided with industry relevant training, mentoring and job readiness support. The Project brings together partners including Solar Victoria, Jobs Victoria, Victorian employers in the solar and renewable sectors, the Latrobe Valley Authority and an appointed recruitment agency.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, industry outreach or human resource management.
Desirable:
- Experience in wrap-around employment support and services with experience in working with jobseekers who have barriers to employment.
- A broad understanding of recruitment and human resources practices with an ability to interpret awards, agreements, legislation, policy and procedures would be highly regarded.
- A relevant tertiary degree is desirable - e.g. business, human resources, social/community services.
- Knowledge of businesses in the solar and/or renewable energy sector would be highly regarded.

- Outcomes Thinking: Establishes mechanisms to monitor impact of work on the community; Ensures team/organisation's operating and delivery model is designed in ways that creates a positive impact on community.
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Takes into account wider business context within business unit when considering options to resolve issues. Identifies recurring problems and prevents future recurrence by integrating solutions into work process. Delivers tangible business outcomes as a result of critically evaluating problems from multiple perspectives and delivering effective solutions.
This is a fixed term, part time position (45.6 hours per fortnight) available until 28 June 2024. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
