Position Details
The Engagement Officer – Established Invasives performs a key role in facilitating stakeholder engagement that will support the delivery of community-led approaches in the management of established invasive species at the regional and local level. The position will work in partnership with regional staff and the statewide teams to deliver community programs that support shared responsibility between community and government in managing established invasive species. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with stakeholder management, conciliation experience, and highly developed organisation skills.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: agricultural or, biosecurity or, social sciences or natural resource management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in community engagement, community development and relationship management methods.
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the design and implementation of community change management and behavioural change initiatives.
- An understanding of rural community challenges and the ability to engage with community volunteers in the delivery of government policies, strategies and services.
- An understanding of best practice techniques for established invasive species management is desirable.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Gippsland or Port Phillip regions with hybrid work arrangements available.
