Position Details

The Laboratory Assistant (LA) works within the Laboratory Management Team (LMT), one of three teams that make up the Science Support team. The LA works collaboratively across LMT and the wider SST to deliver general laboratory services to scientists at AgriBio, enabling research teams to focus on scientific outcomes. While this role is primarily responsible for equipment, access and contractor management, the Laboratory Assistant will also be trained in delivering the full range of LMT services: waste, glassware and PPE management, delivering face-to-face staff inductions, completing administrative tasks, managing delivery at the central store, stocking of satellite stores and managing deliveries at the loading dock. The LA is expected to undertake specialist training, such as operating the walkie stacker, in order to support other members of the team in the timely delivery of services to stakeholders.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in science and relevant experience in research laboratories or similar is required. A background in chemistry is desirable.
  • Digital Literacy; Experience with using Microsoft Suite of applications is required.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2 years. The work location for this position is AgriBio, Bundoora.
