Position Details

Agriculture Victoria is recruiting for a Policy Manager - Climate Change position for a short-term leave backfill role.

Reporting to the Director, Climate Change and Transition, the Policy Manager works collaboratively to set policy direction and provide strategic policy advice to the department's Ministers, executives and leadership groups on diverse, complex and challenging policy and legislative issues facing Victoria's agriculture sector, with a particular focus on climate change. The Policy Manager works as part of a leadership team to lead and develop a high performing, engaged team, fostering a culture of excellence, responsiveness and flexibility.

Managing a small, high performing team, the Policy Manager will support Agriculture Victoria and the Minister for Agriculture to deliver agriculture sector responsibilities under the Victorian Climate Action Act 2017 and related policies or projects.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate qualification in science, public policy, economics, agriculture or equivalent is desirable as well as relevant experience.
  • A relevant tertiary degree would be well regarded. 

This is a fixed term position available for a period until 30 January 2026. The work location for this position is Melbourne with ability to be flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
