Position Details

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced urban planner with leadership experience and great stakeholder management skills to apply for the role of Senior Manager Major and State Projects within the Planning and Environment Assessment branch in DEECA. Working across the state, the role will lead a team of planners to support the assessment of major projects including transport projects, earth resources and housing projects. The position will play a key role in ensuring proposals are responsive to biodiversity values and support the delivery of key government priorities including the Economic Growth Statement, the Housing Statement and other state significant projects.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in statutory or strategic land use planning or related field is mandatory. 
  • A contemporary understanding of the Victoria Planning Provisions and their application is mandatory. 
  • Understanding of government environments and decision making is desirable. 
  • Sound understanding of environmental, regional planning and regional development issues.  
  • Experience leading and developing teams. 

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
