Position Details
Terrific opportunity to join a vibrant team and be at the forefront in shaping networks policy during a time of electrification and major change in the energy industry.
We are looking for candidates with experience in networks regulation, and/or an interest or experience in energy networks, who are excellent communicators, who want to make a difference, and not afraid to tackle the big policy issues for the industry.
The Senior Policy Officer, Networks and DER Integration Branch contributes to policy advice and manages projects within the Energy Group. The position sits within the Networks Policy team and contributes to the development of gas and electricity market regulatory frameworks as they apply to Victoria, for both distribution and transmission networks. This includes assisting Victorian officials to effectively participate in national energy policy making forums. It also includes advising the government on when, and how, Victoria should modify the application of national energy market frameworks. The Senior Policy Officer supports a range of projects focused on key areas of networks policy, such as electricity transmission access reform, electrification and the ongoing adaptation of energy networks, advice on major network infrastructure projects, access arrangements for network service providers, and other network related National Electricity Rule and National Gas Rules changes, both nationally and in Victoria.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification/s in engineering, energy, science, law, economics, public policy, or similar is desirable.
- Experience with Government processes and operations in policy development and reform is desirable.
- Experience in analysis of energy markets, and in particular network regulation, is highly desirable.
This isa fixed term position available for a period of 24 Months. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street East Melbourne, with hybrid work arrangements available.
