Position Details

The Manager, Regulatory Strategy is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a modern regulatory practice framework to support the Earth Resources Regulator (ERR) to adopt a risk-based regulatory approach. The Manager leads a team of regulatory policy, practice and intelligence personnel to deliver a program of work that supports ERR to embed fundamentals of risk-based regulatory practice across the lifecycle of regulatory functions.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the regulation of Victoria's earth resources sector, at a time of significant growth, as we transition towards a duties-based regulatory model. You will be at the forefront of developing and implementing innovative regulatory strategies that ensure earth resources activities are conducted safely to protect people, property, infrastructure and the environment.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in public administration, governance, risk management or related field is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing organisation-wide strategy and policy, preferably in a regulatory environment.
  • Operational experience of the mining, quarrying or petroleum activities or a comparable high-risk industry would be well regarded.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
