Position Details
Opportunity to develop to risk-based environment protection regulatory policy
Working in a flexible and supportive team, the Policy Officer will support development and delivery of complex policy and regulatory reforms to ensure risk-based regulation of pollution and waste. A key focus will be ensuring noise pollution obligations for outdoor entertainment venues and events are risk-proportionate, supporting the objectives of the Victorian Government's Regulatory Reform Program.
As the successful applicant, you will:
- Undertake impact analysis of policy options
- Navigate a broad range of government, industry and community stakeholder perspectives to inform appropriate policy solutions
- Support timely delivery of complex, timebound policy reform projects
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Qualification in public policy, environmental management, science, economics, law or equivalent is desirable
- Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of public and/or regulatory policy development is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in economic analysis is desirable
- Knowledge of Victoria's environment protection framework is desirable
This is a fixed term position available until 12 March 2026. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street Melbourne or flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available
