  • Cog2B: $77,730 - $89,386 plus superannuation.

About Us:

As a service within the Department of Justice and Regulation, Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs, and services to ensure that safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

About the Role:

Industry Officers are responsible for the management and delivery of specific functions within prison industries. This includes assisting with the management of prisoner employment, safe operating procedures and other Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements, and compliance with prison industry procedures.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Providing supervision and training to prisoners who are employed in the prisons commercial and service industries.
  • Effectively managing all work areas to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff and visitors. This includes appropriate levels of surveillance and interaction within the facility and monitoring staff and prisoners for compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety, and security procedures.
  • Overseeing the allocation and control of raw materials and tools to prisoners ensuring that all tools are always accounted for and reporting any loss of tools promptly to the Industry Manager.

About You:

As an ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Relevant experience in Engineering or Metal Fabrication would be an advantage.
  • Sound background using modern equipment.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or experience in Engineering or Metal Fabrication.
  • Successful completion of the internal 8-week Corrections Officer Program within 6 months of commencement (mandatory).
