An ongoing opportunity exists for a Corrections Intelligence Analyst within Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service.

About us

Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria (CV) and its stakeholders. Presently the CVIS comprises the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and Prison Intelligence Unit (PIU) located at the twelve public and two private prison facilities in Victoria.

About the role

As the Corrections Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, recording, analysing and disseminating information, with a specific focus on high security prisoners to identify and prevent potential prisoner incidents/unrest, prisoner escapes and contraband introduction within CV facilities.

Reporting to the Corrections Intelligence Manager, you will contribute to both tactical and strategic intelligence functions, and analyse and present intelligence information to management and authorised persons and/or external agencies as required. This position is created for effective prison management in maintaining the security, good order and management of prison facilities.

There may be a requirement to work from Statewide Service Building in Ravenhall but you may also be required to work from various locations including Melbourne CBD or any Victorian Correctional Facility if a business need arises.

There may also be a requirement to work outside of normal business hours and some travel and overnight stays.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • experience in delivering both tactical and strategic intelligence functions in a correctional or law enforcement setting
  • knowledge of contemporary principles and practises that apply to intelligence functions within the criminal justice system and across intelligence agencies
  • knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986 and Corrections Regulations 1998
  • experience in the use of information management systems, and/or other data managing technologies.

Possession of, or progression towards, an accredited Intelligence Analyst qualification would be advantageous.

Successful candidates will also need to acquire a Neg Vet 1 Security clearance within 12 months of taking up the position.
